  • 06:22 UTC Missing a leg? Don’t worry!

Are you happy on two wheels, but not so keen on the water? Or maybe you can swim like a fish but running leaves you floundering? Don’t worry! Please sign up online as an individual competitor and we will allocate you a leg (or two) on the day to compete with you. You’ll still be entering the race as an individual, but this allows you to take part in an awesome triathlon, as well as raising money for an incredible local charity that supports children with disabilities. Now you really have no excuse…

  • 04:15 UTC 2013 Event

The 2013 Kilifi Gold Triathlon will be a Sprint Triathlon, and will be held on Saturday, August 31st at the Kilifi Plantations. Online registration will be available soon. The event will start at 2:00pm the day of the race, with a briefing beginning at 1:00pm. Directions to the check-in, briefing, and race start locations will be posted as the event nears.

So what is a sprint triathlon?

The sprint triathlon consists of a 750 metre swim, followed by a 20km bike ride, and concludes with a 5km run.

The swim will be along the bank of the Kilifi creek of the Indian Ocean and then back again and will be overseen by a safety boat. For those of you not totally comfortable with swimming in open water it is possible to swim in chest deep water for much of the course. The 20km bike ride will be around the plantation on dirt tracks, so mountain bikes and Black Mambas are recommended! Finally the run will be a 5km loop, again within the confines of the plantation, and marshals directing you along the proper course.

The race will be marshaled all the way with plenty of water on hand to keep you hydrated. The race starts at 2pm so that the swim event starts when the tide is not doing very much and so that all competitors will have finished before it gets dark.

  • 06:00 UTC Friends of Kilifi District Hospital

The “Trust” is a registered charity with the main aim of raising funds to support Kilifi District Hospital infrastructure development. This support is geared towards improving services at the hospital and the district at large. Currently the “Friends” are raising money towards improving the Emergency department at the hospital.
