The day-page-set for the talk in the kabo-list-wiki
Read the page talk, explained.
The talk in which wikis do we listen to? Who is listening to the talk in the kabo-list-wiki? See the wiki-net talk.
I reworked the categories. The lists are compiled manually but clicking the small blue CamelCase page title up to the right (left of edit this page) opens an automatic list of back-links. The back-links contain the category page itself, the page local names and the pages in the category. That might be usable, let’s see.
a suspicion why
Everything links fine except for the all xxx links on the page [[kabo-wiki-hive_-_wiki-net_grid?]]. Instead of linking to the kabo-list-wiki they link to the eArt-list-wiki. The kabo-wiki-hive is different, it’s the center of the “star”, it distributes the local names to the other hives, know. Maybe it’s the fact that eArt in the alphabet comes before kabo? Maybe the “center of the star wiki hive” simply needs to be named the AAA-wiki-hive to be first in the alphabet? Speculations …
Np, I will hack my way around it somehow. Interesting though.
understanding might take another while
Ok, yesterday’s experiment to create the feeds for the different day-page-sets via yahoo pipes, importing the feed for the yahoo pipe into feedburner ended with an overloaded server. Removing feeds from yahoo pipes made it return to normal again. If at all it must be the other way around: google feedburner first, from there into yahoo pipes. Only I can’t try it now as feedburner is stuck again, I can’t edit feeds. It’s sad.
In order to build the soup in yahoo pipes and reliably exclude the double postings of day-page-set items in the soup-feed I need to understand http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8236310/yahoo-pipes-combine-item-content-fileds-of-two-rss-feeds-based-on-same-item-ti which might take another while …
In relation to the earlier chaos things run excellent. I’m not really complaining.
wiki hives share local names
I’m using yahoo pipes for the day-page-set now. That is not required. Some feel tells me I might need these pipes later.
Linking to odd-wiki with local names
As a test I connected the shared local names of the [[kabo-wiki-hive?]] and the [[odd-wiki-hive?]]. Linking should now work by writing [[name of the wiki in the odd-wiki-hive - name of the page]].
facebook page kabo-list-wiki
Major edits to the day-page-sets face, all wikis and
talk should be forwarded into the facebook - page kabo-list-wiki. From there they’re included back into the wiki: facebook page kabo-list-wiki. This is a test to see if this works.
renamed to kabo-list-wiki
mourning border, proposal for a solution to the current technical limits
I put a mourning border around the icon for the [[kabo-list-wiki?]] to diversify it from the main wiki [[kabo-wiki-hive?]], its icon has has no margin. Both wikis together make a “dual-core-wiki”, kinda.
SamRose? wrote an excellent page on [[community-wiki?]] explaining about the current technical limits of the set up of the kabo-wiki-hive (and of others) proposing a solution. “WikiNetGrid looks like a lot of work.”
over the limit
Ok, there are limits and I’m learning about them. I have been adding all kind of more or less useful feeds for months to the wikis in the kabo-wiki-hive in order to find out about the limits of feed aggregation in oddmuse. On the various “sub-wikis” (= name spaces) I recognized a moderate slow down that is still acceptable considering the various feed inclusions. “I’m getting closer to the limit.” I thought. Then, returning to care for the main wiki [[kabo-wiki-hive?]] which I hadn’t touched for a while, I realized that I’m already far over the limit. Feeds for the main wiki can’t be burned in feedburner anymore (feed validator says time out) and it is awfully slow.
I’m going to deactivate high traffic feeds on the kabo-wikis: blog-, video-, friends-xxx-wiki-feeds to see if the main wiki returns to normal speed.
Started with what hurts most: the one big xxx pages in the [[whoRthey-wiki?]]. To see if there’s any effect. I’m not sure if there is.
recently on irc #oddmuse
mattis^: added feeds like mad these months, maybe hit the ceiling?
samrose: I think so
mattis^: puts on a helmet
samrose: someday there may be a new way to do this rss stuff that works with oddmuse, remove the parsing from oddmuse engine
mattis^: sounds good, useful, globally collaborative
hive specific page names
I started renaming the pages hive, all … into pages with hive specific names: all talk, all wiki ideas and so on. Find them all at the end of the current day-page in the set all wikis. Quite a lot of work but the results do feel good.
the kabo-list-wiki and google, identi.ca and twitter
On [[google_-_reader_kabo-list-wiki?]] you find back our external links. It provides the wiki-complete-feed, atom which feedburner transfers into the wiki-complete-feed. On the page wiki complete you find its inclusion.
