The day-page-set for the talk in the en-kabo-center-wiki
Read the page talk, explained.
The talk in which wikis do we listen to? Who is listening to the talk in the en-kabo-center-wiki? See the wiki-net talk.
Let’s have some fun before the whole wiki-net goes up in flames.
The en-kabo-center-wiki has been renamed
I decided to adapt to wikipedias policy of leading language code in wiki names and started renaming wikis with the [[en-kabo-center-wiki?]]. The other center-wikis for the kabo-wiki-hive are to do:
Similar renaming of the kabo-sand-wikis:
Similar renaming of the kabo-empty-wiki:
Similar renaming of the kabo-wiki-list:
It might take a while but will be beautiful when finished.
the problem with posts displaying raw html has been solved
I linked to this one of several day-page-sets in the en-kabo-center-wiki from my home page 27C3-wiki - Mattis Manzel, talk. Hi. Copy the header into a new talk page or don’t and someone else does it later. Edits not marked this is a minor edit get fed into the wiki-net. The captcha question when saving an edit must be answered only the first time when editing this wiki. It runs on the free [[oddmuse?]] software. Welcome.
There are consisting problems with posts displaying raw html instead of rendered text in the services for the wikis triggered by ping.fm. I did some translating and testing in the [[de-kabo-Zentrum-wiki?]] yesterday in German. See [[de-kabo-Zentrum-wiki_-_Gespräch?]]. Now back to English and the [[en-kabo-center-wiki?]]. Sigh!
There is another problem. The feeds for the day-pages in the soup.io - en-kabo-center-wiki do not update. I’m now trying the smart setting in google feedburner for the talk-feed. It doesn’t validate either (nor does the atom setting), let’s see if it updates nevertheless.
Earlier I tried treating the talk like the changes - that is putting in a friendfeed group before going into soup.io. That seems to work and likely would update just like the changes do. Disadvantage is: The full text of the day-page is added as a comments without any links in it. With the changes that’s no problem as there are no links in the page summary (the changes display the page summary). But full text should have links in it (day-page-sets display full text).
An example for a valid talk feed via friendfeed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/FriendFeed/ListEnKaboCenterWikiTalkSmart. No links in the text. Hmm
The “displayed-html-Problem” is another story and remains unsolved.
On 2010-02-01 [[essaywriter?]] wrote on the front page of the [[kabo-wiki-hive?]]. I moved the text here to [[en-kabo-center-wiki_-_talk?]] which is the more appropriate place. He wrote:
Thanks. You can start a new wiki on KaboWiki:StartANewWiki. Information about the wiki software, where to download it and how to set it up on your own server can be found on the page for [[Oddmuse?]]: http://www.oddmuse.org/. I hope this helps you.

It seems there could be a “wiki-cloud”
So it seems there could be a “wiki-cloud”. It displays the wikis a person has been active on for something like the last 90 days or so. The more often someone edited a wiki the bigger the wiki grows in his wiki-cloud. Maybe even some kinda “reverted e-function” (sorry for lacking better terms) could be built in so that an edit two days ago counts more than an edit two weeks ago and that one again more than an edit three months ago? Anyhow. Personal wiki-clouds seems possible to me.
Typically a personal wiki-cloud would be displayed on a person’s home page. Having that one could sum up the wiki-cloud for an entire wiki. Sum up all personal wiki clouds - again in “reverted e-function” probably - and display where all contributors to the wiki else are active on. It’s a wiki-cloud informing about the status quo of a wiki. Nice.
The second part is harder.
There’s a “community imagined wiki-cloud”, a “wiki-cloud-of-desire” hidden somewhere in the wiki-net of a wiki. It’s like asking the participants to a community the question “What are your interests as a part of this wiki and where to should we orientate us?”, make the sum of the personal replies to the question and create a “wiki-cloud-of desire” from it. No, this is not explained very well. Nevertheless.
Both the “status quo wiki-cloud” and the “wiki-cloud-of-desire” could be computed somehow. When you “substact” where you are from where you long to be you get the “vector” of your heading, a kinda “integral” of a wiki, the “dy of its jet-wash”.
Comparing the jet-wash of different wikis you can tell about the magnetism they have to each other and knowing about that maybe you could predict the future development of the wikilandia hive-mind spiral galaxis at least to a centrain degree Spacy Tracy! Sorry for the metaphorical part of this Whit Sunday morning improvisation.
got to ask Alex if there is a tricky way. Tried [[image:url|RecentChanges|recent changes|RecentChanges]] thinking “picture-url / linked page title / displayed title / mouse over title”. Hmm.
NearLink to obm-wiki-hive doesn’t work
Anybody has an idea where the mistake is hidden?
Ok, solved. It was one of these nasty spaces at the end of the line in the InterMap that can drive you nuts!
For some reason I get no face-feed from de-kabo-Zentrum-wiki. You have an idea why, Sam?
http://feeds.feedburner.com/Kabo/DeKaboZentrumWiki/Gesicht is empty, it shouldn’t.
Hmm…not exactly sure. Checking it out now for you….
It looks like it’s something with the settings or the software or so, not a mistake I made. At least it’s the same on Bundesliga-wiki: wiki-net Gesichter. I can’t include Dialekt-wiki: Gesicht.
Problem solved. I had to save the face entries again as a major edit. The first saving as a major edit didn’t do it.
Yay, Sam: the XML::RSS module. Well done! You get a case of beer for that!
It’s a total syndication craze with three hives, I love it!
DeKaboZentrum:WikiNetWikiListen, so beautiful, so automatic …
Hmmm…I’m glad it works, but I haven’t changed anything. I have not yet gotten XML::RSS module installed on this server. So, somehow it is working on that page only without it. Weird. You know what is funny is that I just came here to tell you that I intended to get it working sometime next week
Madness. It works all over the hive. Once I got the old message about the missing module but reloading the page it worked there too. Likely they installed the module on the gridserver.
hive-list in the main-wiki
Bayle thought there were too many clicks from the Main:FrontPage to a list of wikis on the hive. True. I made Main:HiveList and added it to the bar on top. With the suitable module it should work, I guess. We’ll have to find out on how much commenting about the different wikis makes sense.
I had to use full urls on the youngest daypage on KaboList:HiveListPages. When deep linking within a hive I need to do that. When deep linking cross-hive I don’t.
It works on obm-wiki-hive: hive-list
