triggering ping.fm with hootsuite
MattisManzel:
I’ve been going through various fails trying to trigger [[ping.fm?]] with the soup of the carrotmob-wiki for months. Neither titterfeed, nor twitterlive or superfeedr would work sufficiently. Now I’m using hootsuite which seems to work.
triggering facebook with soup.io, pic inclusions
MattisManzel:
On [[soup.io?]] I activated the export to facebook. On [[ping.fm?]] I deactivated the forwarding to facebook. So facebook - carrotmob-wiki should now be served the soup of the carrotmob-wiki directly from soup.io. Let’s see.
I experimented with the inclusion of pictures posted by facebook users on the pages facebook friends carrotmob-wiki, explained and friends carrotmob-wiki, explained. Will the pages update?
test post
MattisManzel:
Triggering [[ping.fm?]] with superfeedr instead of [[twitterlive?]] the ugly posts in raw html into various services should be nice and readable now. Sorry for it having taken a while …
touchgraph - carrotmob-wiki
MattisManzel:
Touchgraph visualizes the relations to friends of the user account facebook - carrotmob-wiki. Only when logged in I can see the touchgraph - carrotmob-wiki. It currently looks like this:
It would be nice to have that included into the local page [[touchgraph_carrotmob-wiki?]]. It would be even nicer when feeding it with wiki-net data. Let’s see.
[de] Zuckerbrot und Peitsche ist die Entsprechung auf Deutsch für carrot and stick. Also Zuckerbrot-Pöbel. Rohrzuckerbrot-Pöbel wenn es öko sein soll.
shortened wiki url
MattisManzel:
The easy-to remember web address for the carrotmob-wiki is:
The small gray link in the header image reminds you of it and takes you to the page shortened wiki url.
Else I’ve been adding the [[soup_-_group_carrotmob-wiki,_changes?]] and included the feed it provides into the soup - carrotmob-wiki via feed.informer in order to chase the unrendered html text out of the posts ping.fm distributes for the carrotmob-wiki into various web services. I hope it works.
2010-08-28, MattisManzel:
Reverted as it didn’t solve the html-Problem. Kept the soup group which is good for seeing the complete history of the changes. The feed for the soup group is not in use though.
Möhrenpöbel, carrotmob multilingual, web-site list reworked
MattisManzel:
Jepp, Möhrenpöbel! Mit dem wunderbaren doppel ö drinnen. Dies ist eine um Längen bessere Übersetzung ins Deutsche als Mohrrüben-Menschenauflauf oder so manch anderer Versuch. Etikett #MöhrenPöbel, I love it.
I’d be interested in translations of the term carrotmob into more languages and started the page carrotmob multilingual.
The home pages for the carrotmob web-sites on the web-site list have been reworked. Where there’s both a web-site and a twitter account the feeds have been merged. Before they were divided and you had to scroll down half the page to see current twitter activity.
The feeds for the included carrotmob web-sites and the twitter timelines have all been burned in the google feedburner account for the carrotmob-wiki. This is not necessarily required but it creates less load for the carrotmob-wiki and the kabo-wiki-hive. Don’t hesitate to use original feed uls when adding sites, I’ll burn them in time.
The 9carrots.org site looks interesting btw. I do not find a plain rss feed for it though to include into the local page NineCarrotsOrg? (no numbers in CamelCase? page titles in oddmuse). The easy-to-read title for the page is [[carrotmob-wiki_-_9carrots.org?]].
2010-08-28, MattisManzel:
The feed will be in the next version of the 9carrots software they mailed back. Yeah!
more tech testing
MattisManzel:
Changed the title of the friendfeed - group carrotmob-wiki changes. Removed the feedburner to twitter and the twitter to google buzz triggering. Activated ping.fm to both twitter and google buzz triggering. This is a post to test how the results look like.
twingly - channel carrotmob
MattisManzel:
Twingly introduced channels. The user account twingly - carrotmob-wiki is subscribed to the twingly - channel carrotmob. The twingly channel includes the soup of the carrotmob-wiki and µblogging messages tagged #CarrotMob. The twingly channel doesn’t provide a feed and consequently there’s no page twingly channel carrotmob in the carrotmob-wiki.
multiple bricolage, strawberrymob ?
MattisManzel:
Multiple bricolage takes place in the carrotmob-wiki - you might not find all of it useful (nor do I). You might find some of it useful though.
Unfortunately the “test and discussion” wiki called 'wiki-net' in the odd-wiki-hive as well as some dozens of more wikis sitting in this hive have to be moved to a new server before fully functional again. Consequently I have to experiment in “topical” wikis like the carrotmob-wiki. Sorry about that.
This post is to figure out if twitterlive forwards messages to different posting groups in ping.fm.
Currently the only method that forwards into ping.fm is blog and that again forwards only into facebook and google buzz. The rest stays silent. That is not it yet.
Finally and on topic: Whatever strawberrymob is, you can keep informed about its development on the page friendfeed tag StrawBerryMob. Dig it!
twitterlive
MattisManzel:
The service twitterfeed dropped out several month ago. I’m giving a try to twitterlive now hoping to get back ping.fm - the “wiki-net ignition dispenser” - to update.
By the way, whether carrotmob is still hot or not is without any importantance. The idea is simply good.
experiments with socnodes
MattisManzel:
I’m experimenting with socnodes. As a forth wiki - the Melbourne-wiki, the Sylt-wiki and the world-democracy-wiki are already in - I include the soup of the carrotmob-wiki into socnodes:
At least the second step, the soup - carrotmob-wiki via feedburner (setting ping shot activated) into socnodes should go in real time. Let’s see.
’facebook - carrotmob-wiki’ updates via ping.fm or not?
Mattis Manzel:
Testing days. I removed identi.ca on facebook - carrotmob-wiki and substituted it with ping.fm. This is a test.
another test of ping.fm
Mattis Manzel:
Fine, [[identi.ca_-_carrotmob-wiki?]] updates. I disabled the twitterbridge in it and added twitter - carrotmob-wiki as a service to [[ping.fm_-_carrotmob-wiki?]]. This is another test if it works.
It does.
Adding delicious - carrotmob-wiki and [[jabber_carrotmob-wiki?]] to ping.fm services and testing one more time.
a test of ping.fm
Mattis Manzel:
This is a test. The soup of the carrotmob-wiki goes into twitterfeed. Twitterfeed has an option to pass on data into [[ping.fm?]]. I hadn’t looked at it for a while and created ‘ping.fm - carrotmob-wiki’. Then I switched twitterfeed from identi.ca over to ping.fm. For now I added only identi.ca as a service to send to. But I can send wiki changes into a bunch of services via ping.fm. Many they are, really many. Yeah!
Seems to work, cool.
Not to be forgotten
Mattis Manzel:
There are more websites about carrotmob.
facebook group - carrotmob Zürich
They have a lovely logo
facebook group - carrotmob Rotterdam, twitter - carrotmob Rotterdam
Further are: carrotmobberlin.com, twitter - carrotmob Bonn.
Hi carrotmob web-site admins,
Whilst [[twitter?]] is nice [[identi.ca?]] is even nicer. Everybody can run a server that joins in the network, with twitter your’re dependent on the whaler’s servers. Adequate to rather not carrotmobbing chain stores I recommend the use of identi.ca for carrotmob web-sites, probably additional to twitter. It has useful group functions twitter misses. You can easily integrate a twitter account with the twitter bridge function.
